Sports and Exercise Medicine

The aim of Sports and Exercise Medicine is to investigate clinically relevant research that focuses on the etiology, diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of sports injuries; thereby assisting athletes in their endeavor to reach their full potential. Another aspect of Sports and Exercise Medicine are the promotion of health through increased use of exercise and physical activity; advice on the safe use of physical exercise in both prevention and treatment of illness (metabolic syndrome, High blood pressure, diabetes and other cardiovascular conditions); and a holistic approach to addressing medical conditions and injuries in individuals who wish to exercise.

We treat a variety of problems of injury related to exercise or medical problems of exercising individuals of all ages and all levels of participation. We also use Sports and Exercise Medicine to promote optimal health, with the use of exercise to maximize wellness where exercise is part of the management of medical problems. Moreover, we address athletic injuries, injury prevention program to enhance performance in an athletic population looking at the pathophysiology, biomechanics and optimization of human performance. We use exercise as a therapeutic modality in the treatment and prevention of disease and for the promotion of health and the prevention of disease or injury at an individual and population level.
